Le réalisateur, Wade Shotter, explique à Videology :

« I instantly thought of the dice idea that I’d had for a while, although it was originally dominoes. They can give you a higher range of contrast (between 0-9 dots) but I thought it would be simpler to animate with dice. I loved the song so I met up with the band after a gig and showed them stills I’d made out of dice. They liked it and managed to scrape 4K together so we did it.

Videology: Any particular reason why you chose dice?

Wade: I always thought it would be an amazing way to visualize a subject. The song is about being a kid in the 80’s and I wanted the visuals to reflect that in some way, hence the playground, space invaders, pong and slot car sets. I thought dice fitted perfectly into this being an essential item of most board games. »
